about
Michael Sutton is a London-based jazz vocalist whose music is all about warmth, honesty and connection.
His 2024 debut album Those Leftover Dreams — produced by Claire Martin OBE — marked the start of an exciting new chapter. Recorded with Rob Barron (piano), Jeremy Brown (bass), Mark Taylor (drums) and Quentin Collins (trumpet and flugelhorn), the album introduced Michael’s relaxed, lyrical approach to a wider audience. The songs — a mix of classics and lesser-known gems — showed a singer who values space, storytelling, and swing in equal measure.
In November 2025, Michael released And I Love Her, an intimate new EP recorded in a stripped-back duo with pianist Paul Edis. The five-track collection takes a quieter, more personal turn, exploring love, loss and memory with clarity and warmth. The title track, a nod to Michael’s father’s love of The Beatles, was chosen as Jazz FM’s Dinner Jazz Track of the Week, with Mark Walker praising it as “a lovely stripped-back, heartfelt version” that gives the song “a nice gentle smoky feel.”
Working with Paul Edis has brought a new level of space and subtlety to Michael’s music. Together they revisit pieces like Blue Prelude, I Keep Going Back to Joe’s and There’s a Lull in My Life — songs that balance storytelling with stillness, letting the emotion breathe naturally.
Michael’s approach is simple: serve the song, keep it real, and let the music speak for itself. Whether re-imagining a Beatles tune, a Tom Waits ballad, or a jazz standard, he sings with quiet confidence and a deep sense of feeling.
And I Love Her marks the next step in what’s becoming a distinctive voice in British jazz — sincere, soulful, and rooted in the joy of making music that connects.
